The Sommelier / Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Maslina Resort enhances the guest experience by providing expert wine service and supporting the daily operations of the Food and Beverage department. 

This role combines in-depth wine knowledge with practical assistance in service, inventory, and guest interactions, ensuring a seamless and memorable dining experience. 

This unique role combines a deep expertise in wine with strong leadership and event management skills. 


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Sommelier & Service Duties:

  • Curate and maintain an exceptional wine list that complements our culinary offerings.
  • Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, enhancing their dining experience.
  • Conduct engaging wine tastings, dinners, and educational sessions for guests and staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with wineries, distributors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor wine inventory, manage orders, and ensure proper storage and presentation of wines.
  • Develop wine-related packages, promotions, and experiences to drive revenue.

Assistant F&B Manager Duties:

  • Support the F&B Manager in day-to-day operations, ensuring the highest standards of service.
  • Assist in managing the restaurant, beach bar, and additional bar operations.
  • Contribute to menu development, including wine pairings and seasonal offerings.
  • Lead and train F&B staff on wine knowledge, service excellence, and guest engagement.
  • Oversee event planning and execution, including private dinners, events, and weddings.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create seamless and memorable dining experiences.


SPECIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Certified Sommelier (Level 2 or above) from a recognized institution (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers).
  • Proven experience in a sommelier role, ideally within a luxury hotel or fine dining setting.
  • Strong background in F&B management, including event planning and execution.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for wine, gastronomy, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and wine service.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and POS systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Behavioural Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for hospitality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
